Main Tera Hero Hindi Movie Review

In the 90's David Dhawan popularized a brand of film that had a fan following of its own. Brainless comedies with majority of them with Govinda in the lead were created by the director that guaranteed fun to the viewers. Almost on a similar pattern he has reloaded the genre but this time it’s his son Varun who is leading the pack through Main Tera Hero.

What the viewer’s expect from such films, MTH provides that. Though it is not the best from the director, it is a winner offering uninterrupted fun with loads of humour that is done by a talented bunch of actors like Anupam Kher, Saurabh Shukla and Rajpal Yadav.

The film is a typical "leave your brains at home" movie that has a good first half but the second half lags a bit. Couple of subplots within the main story also dampens the overall mood but again Varun and the actors lift it up helping the movie to take it to the safe zone.

The plot revolves around Seenu who is romantically interested towards Sunaina but they have a cop who acts as a thorn in their relationship as he too loves the girl though it is only a one sided affair. The twist in the tale take us to Bangkok where the story is focused fully through the post intermission session with lots of scenes that evokes laughter, thanks to the script that creates characters to provide that laugh.

On the acting side, though Varun has done Student of the Year which is his first, MTH is the ideal platform where he can showcase his talent that has humour, action and emotions to enact. He has done a decent job as Seenu. Ileana D'Cruz and Nargis Fakri are the female leads and they were just ok with Ileana outperforming the latter.

The comic side has been well handled by Anupam Kher, Rajpal Yadav and Saurabh Shukla while the character of Shakthi Kapoor was totally out of place. Arunodhay Singh as the bad cop was also quite good in the role.

Songs by Sajid-Wajid were mostly the foot tapping ones and they looked good with the visuals.

On the whole, Main Tera Hero is not a bad attempt by the director and I will give a score of three on a scale of five for this logic less entertainer. Again, the film is strictly for those who enjoyed the category of films that David Dhawan made in the 90's. For others my advice is you please stay away.
