Salim Ahmed knows how to utilize an actor thus Salim Kumar reaching unparallel heights. In Kunjananthante Kada, Salim Ahmed has brought out a refreshing character 'Kunjananthan' out of Mammootty. The movie is slow paced  narrating through the life of Kunjananthan and his obsession with his shop.         Prithviraj is at his best in his career graph with his last three movies simultaneously lauded by the critics and fairing well at the box office. Jeethu joseph who debuted with the investigative thriller 'Detective' is back to the genre with Memories. Prithviraj is playing another police role after suspense thriller 'Mumbai Police'.
Memories is directed and written by Jeethu Joseph himself and he really deserves a pat for such a wonderful product. The movie tells the story of a drunken cop Sam Alex (played by Prithviraj) who takes on a case under the persuasion of his mother. The movie progresses narrating his past and how Sam Alex cracks the mission. Prithviraj is outstanding as Sam Alex and he has done complete justice to the role. Prithviraj's acting was flawless and with utmost ease he carries the whole film in his shoulders. The director has very well developed the character making it believable. Cinematography by Sujith Vassudev is good. The murdering scene of Sam Alex's wife and daughter is really terrifyingly awesome. Certain doses of animation here and there was appreciable eventhough it wasn't perfect enough. The background score by Anil Jonson and songs by Sejo John were apt for the movie. Also editing by John Kutty was appreciable.
The suspense element, the climax and the thrilling narration makes this movie a watchable flick for all type of audiences.

Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty Malayalam Movie Review and Boxoffice Collection Report

REVIEW :

'Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty' was a much hyped movie of 2013 because of the Ranjith-Mammootty team who is on a hat-trick hit after Pranchiyettan and the Saint and Bavutyude Namathil. Also the appearences of Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Dileep in cameo roles has also gotten up many film-goers' expectations. The movie says the story of an unemployed German Malayali, Mathukutty, who is coming to Kerela to invite Malayalam Superstars Mohanlal and Dileep for a cultural show in Germany organized by German Malayalis. The story develops with the various social and political issues he has to face and changes his life.
The first half of the movie almost hit the expectations giving the hope of the next Super-hit from the team. However the directer fails to recreate the Pranchiyettan magic on the screen once again. The director failed to keep up the momentum of the first half throughout the movie. the second half of the movie is lagging.
Mohanlal's cameo role in the movie did hit the theatre well which is one of the best sequences. mammootty had nothing new to put onto his role. He did his part exceptionally well. The rest of the actors did justice to their roles, specially Nadumudi Venu. The cinematography by Madhu Neelakandan was also good. The movie failed to realise the expectations of filmgoers. The songs are one of the major drawbacks of the movie making it lagging a bit. The direction and the script of the movie highly disppointed the filmgoers since it came from the ace director Ranjith.
Too much expectation can make the movie bored. If you go without any expectations the movie is a fair one time watch.

  Positives :                                                                           Negatives :
-1st half                                                                               -boring 2nd half
-Comedy sequences                                                            -Script
-Mohanlal-Dileep entry
-Cinematography

Rating : 2.5/5
Verdict : Average

BOX OFFICE :

The movie has bagged 5.75cr before its release through the channel satellite rights. This is a record in Malayalam film industry. The movie which is receiving mixed to negative feedbacks is experiencing a huge setback at the boxoffice due to other promising movies including Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, Memories and Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum.
The movie got released a day before other eid releases in about 78 theaters. The movie has collected 60 lakhs in it's first day itself. The movie is receiving mixed to negative word of mouth which is unbelievable as far as the director Renjith is considered. The movie got reduced to 65 screens from the second day onwards due to multiple releases. Huge dip in the box office collection is being seen and the movie is definitely going to end as a box office flop.
The movie has collected around 2.50 crores in it's first week run. So far, Kadal kadannoru mathukutty has highest number of theatrical shows of about 1,800 shows in first week. The box office collection of the movie is pathetic when considering the cast and the hype it had prior it's release. The movie is expected to be washed out from the theaters within three weeks of theatrical run.
Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty has managed to gross a total of 3.50 Crores in it's box office run and ending up as flop due to it's high production cost.
